Travel Writing & Photography

Call to inquire about dates.
With the proliferation of blogs, travel websites and on-demand printing, there has never been a better time to describe your travels in print and image. Nor, unfortunately, have there been more opportunities to present poorly constructed prose and less-than stellar photographs.
If you want your travel stories to sparkle and entertain, please join us for a day-long Travel Writing & Photography Workshop at The Farmhouse Pottery in the Hockley Valley. Under the guidance of award-winning photographer Rob Stimpson and award-winning writer, Nicola Ross, and with the Credit River as the backdrop, you will learn the tricks of the trade.
Meant for writers and photographers of all levels, the workshop will provide you with practical information based on Nicola’s and Rob’s years of experience. You will come away from the day both inspired by your new knowledge and more confident that your travel stories will tell a tale that is worth reading and looking at.
Your Instructors
Rob Stimpson (robstimpson.com)
A professional freelance photographer, Rob lives in the Muskoka wilds. Whether he is on a Northern Ontario riverbank looking for moose or searching for blue morphos butterflies in Central America, Rob has his camera in hand. This year, he is off to Antarctica to chase penguins. When Rob is not shooting images for his clients or running workshops, you will find him chopping wood for the stove or – more likely – keeping bears and other critters from invading his rural home.
Nicola Ross (loopsandlattes.ca)
If Nicola isn’t writing, she’s out doing things to write about. For the last two years, Nicola and her partner rode their horses across Patagonia. Her blog, Dusty Travelling, reveals – not tells – the story of their adventure. With travel stories published in The Walrus, explore, Globe and Mail, Calgary Herald, Hamilton Spectator and more, as well as two quarterly columns in In the Hills magazine, Nicola types almost as much as she paddles and rides.
